Lance Whitmore jailed for 50 years in Thailand for drug dealing
I recall this fella being mentioned on several of the :Thailand: threads . Many thought it was a hoax as it was kept very quiet by Thai Police , seems it was true

A former Bromsgrove soldier has been jailed for 50 years in Thailand for drug dealing.

Lance Whitmore was sentenced at Ratchada Criminal Court after being caught with close to 200 ecstasy tablets.

His heartbroken mother, Debbie Caswell, said: “I am devastated. I don’t know how he will cope.”

Whitmore had been on trial after he was caught trying to sell drugs to an undercover detective.

Mrs Caswell said: “I got the call this morning from his lawyer. I am just devastated - I am finding it hard to function at the moment.

“I believe we will be appealing but at this moment in time I am just in shock.

“I just don’t know how he will cope with this sentence. It is the worst possible news.”

Whitmore, aged 26, who has already been behind bars up for eight months in rat-infested Klong Prem prison, will face a hellish existence as he serves his sentence.

His mom had previously described how he was covered in sores, pale and pitifully thin and crippled by tooth decay.

The former squaddie now faces sharing a cramped, furnace-hot cell – designed to accommodate 20 people – with 78 other other prisoners. He has already witnessed two stabbings and an attempted rape.

A cellmate has also had his ear bitten off in a brutal attack.

His father Russ, originally from Northfield, runs a restaurant in Pattaya, near Bangkok.

Whitmore, who found work in Thailand with Petroleum Oil Services, was snared in a Pataya supermarket only yards from his dad’s restaurant. He was caught with an Australian friend. A search of his pal’s flat uncovered 60 more ecstasy tablets.

Former South Bromsgrove High School student Whitmore entered a guilty plea hoping it would get his sentence halved.

Whitmore had returned to Thailand in March, 2014, following the death of his 25-year-old fiance Jitma Tahin, known as Tree, from meningitis. He had lived there, off and on for five years.

Mrs Caswell previously told the Mail: “If I could change places with him, I would. If I could walk in there and take over, I would. He is my only son, the light of my life.”

She added: “He has done wrong, but there is a reason he got mixed up in all that, everything that was going on.

“I know he was not in his right mind. He was vulnerable, very vulnerable. He was in a very bad place.”

Nobody's saying that are they. Nobody's talking about smak on here either.

How about all the damage drunk people do, if someone kills someone drunk driving for instance should the pub landlord be responsible.

Of course no one with a drug problem ever steels mugs people in the street or breaks into house to feed the habit.

Smack head appreciation thread.

It's not my problem so I'm not really arsed about finding a solution.

My point was to counter this myth that when you're in a country you "must respect their laws".

You're a clever chap, you should have worked that out.

Roedent

'If only the UK was as hard on wrong doers, law breakers and criminals, then we would all be in a better place and safer world'

By that you reckoning that Thailand and Mexico are 'safer' than the UK?

HAHA classic

So, do you want to use your obvious educated superiority to find a solution or just bitch from where you assume is a superior intellectual position?

Fact.

If it wasn't for drug smugglers then half the music in the charts since the mid 60s that all the music snobs on here wank themselves into oblivion over wouldn't even exist either.

Most of those being high and mighty have done drugs, I'm guessing.

Hahahahahaha.

Makes me laugh when people go on about third hint of fairness or justice, or that we should "respect" them.

If this bloke's family had enough money at their disposal he would have walked.

Prostitution is illegal in Thailand. EVERYONE who visits OBVIOUSLY "respects" THAT law.

All of you lot slagging off drug dealers probably wouldn't have any fucking music to listen to if it wasn't for illegal drugs.

Ever done any drugs, Glenn?

Foreign countries have their own laws, regulations and social norms.

YOU make a choice to disrespect those norms and you can have NO complaints.

Bloke is obviously a fucking idiot for even thinking to get involved with drugs in that part of the world.

But makes me sick people gloating about his plight.

Thought us English stick together?

Mate of mine did 15 years in bang kwan, never blamed anyone except himself. He asked us to send him books and magazines and the first book we sent was Papillion.

Re: Lance Whitmore jailed for 50 years in Thailand for drug dealing
No spin at all, he does deserve everything he gets and everything is 50 years in jail because that was the penalty.

It doesn't make me look an idiot at all. Well maybe to you, but that is because you are clearly a bit dim.

Spin it how you want fella, but you said that he 'deserves' all he gets, ie, he deserves 50 years in jail. That makes you look a complete idiot. Period.
